UPDATE: Meeting June 2nd 8am-4pm Renton. Please email Denny Wallace with questions or agenda items.

WASTS Board,
Good morning all. It has been quite a year under our new operating guidelines. One of the greatest  setbacks has been our inability to meet consistently as planned. I want to personally thank Jill Van Berkom and Moe Broom for their work with WA-ACTE in developing a program for us at the Summer Conference (August 5th-8th in Yakima. To our list of successes ( at least partial) would be the hosting of 3 mini-conference (1) Green Expo for Construction and Manufacturing, (2) Arts, A/V Technology & Communications at Renton and (3) Arts, A/V Technology & Communications at the Tri-Cities. This got our feet wet.

Over the past few months I have encountered needs for the following activities or groups to meet in the mini-conference format:

  1. Jr ROTC
  2. Construction for Math alignment
  3. NCCER Teacher Certification Training
  4. Aerospace and Manufacturing Grantees In-Service training
  5. Aerospace Assembler Skill Center Deep Dive Training
  6. 21st Century Skills and New CTE Course approval trainings.

Each of these, and the list continues to grow, look to be houses in either one-site short training or regional outreach training. Most of which will be centered on training that will be co-sponsored by OSPI with most of the planning and carry out being completed in my office. This could be a great opportunity for our organization to provide benefits to our members while creating income with little if any outlay.

We need to meet face-to-face to identify new candidates and to get a recommitment from existing members of our board. Please do two things:

  1. Rank your top three in priority, the best date for a one day board meet in the Renton area from the following list:
    1. May 26th
    2. June 2nd
    3. June 9th
    4. June 16th
    5. June 23rd
  2. Survey your friends and co-workers and develop a list of people you have contacted who may be willing to serve on the WASTS Board of Directors: If names are listed then we are looking for a confirmation of willingness to continue.
    1. Past President - Vacant
    2. President – Paul Scott
    3. President-Elect –
    4. Treasurer – Terri Haworth
    5. Secretary – Jill Van Berkom
    6. Architecture & Construction – Creed Nelson
    7. Arts, A/V Technology & Communications – John Urner, Paul Joraanstaf, and Ed Crossan
    8. Education & Training -
    9. Government & Public Administration – John Reid
    10. Information Technology –
    11. Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security – John Anderson
    12. Manufacturing – Ken Mayhak
    13. Transportation Distribution & Logistics – Fred Donaldson
    14. CTSO – Bruce McBurney
    15. At- Large – Moe Broom

Thanks
Denny
